Semester 1
- Literature
A. Literary terms (MT literature standards 1 and 2; MT reading standards 1 and 2*)
B. Novel: To Kill a Mockingbird (MT literature standards 1-5; MT reading standards 1-5)
C. Drama: The Tragedy of Julius Caesar (see above)
D. Nonfiction and short stories selected from sophomore literature anthology (see above)
- Writing
A. Five-paragraph papers, including personal essays and papers accompanying literature (MT writing standards 1-6)
B. Research paper (see above)
- Vocabulary: will accompany literature to enhance students’ vocabulary* (MT reading standards 1-3; MT literature standards 1 and 2)
- Grammar: to be addressed as needed
Semster 2
- Literature
A. Short stories: selected short stories from sophomore literature anthology (see above literature standards)
B. Novels: The Pigman and Lord of the Flies (see above)
- Writing: five-paragraph papers, including personal essays and papers accompanying literature (see above)
- Vocabulary: will accompany literature to enhance students’ vocabulary (see above vocabulary standards)
- Grammar: to be addressed as needed
