Welcome

Hello, parents and students. It is my pleasure to welcome you to my classroom web site. This is a new tool for me this year, and I am very excited about the potential benefits this will have for all of us. Before I continue, I must make it clear that this web site would not be possible without the expertise of my mother, Deani Kirkness. She is a retired elementary teacher turned professional web designer, and she has helped create this site for me. I certainly could not have done it without her.

This web site is designed to help students in my English II and English III classes, and it is also intended to enable parents to know what their children are doing in my classes. Each week I will post my plans for English II and English III on the English II and English III pages. This should help students plan for the week ahead, and parents can see what their children will be working on for the week. There are times when my plans do not go quite as I expect, so it is possible that the schedule may get off track a bit from time to time. Whenever possible, I will make changes to the schedule when this happens. Students and parents will also be able to download almost every assignment that I give. We all know that sometimes students forget to take home everything they need to complete assignments or to work on projects.  If this happens with my students, they will be able to access the materials they need by going the the appropriate class page on this web site. I will also include links to web sites that I think may be beneficial and supplementary for the work that we will be doing at any given time.

As this is my first experience with my own web site, I expect that there may be some bumps in the road, so to speak. Hopefully they will be small potholes that can be easily fixed as opposed to sinkholes that can swallow the entire car.
